ATI has released the new 4.12 Cats on Fileplanet. I'll let you guys do the beta testing for me before I install them.

Ha. I actually HAD a subscription, but due to the fact that it took shorter time for me to wait 2 hours in line for a file then to get on their high speed servers.

Heh, I should pick them up; using the 4.12 betas right now.

On a related note, does anyone know if the WMP 10 codec is available as a standalone? When I switched from the 4.7s to the 4.12 betas, all my .wmv files suddenly either a) decided to do funny things with the audio, or b) play video in some sort of weird infrared color scheme. Plus, I get a 'dxva_sig.txt' file on my desktop every time I attempt to play said files.

I DL that Ace Mega Codec pack Chopper, but that annoying .txt file still appears.

The file is ALWAYS titled: dxva_sig.txt
And it is always 0 bytes.

Anyone figure out how to get rid of this yet???? Any help would be great.

a good solution is to just use winamp...i hate media player. i have the 4-12s installed and they are pretty normal, no problems that i can see. no performance difference to speek of.

You have to download WMP10 to get the dxva_sig.txt file to disappear. It's sort of a pain, but it's necessary, and WMP10 really isn't all that bad. I haven't had any problems with it, anyways (short of it attempting to hijack all of my media files, but attention to detail prevents that from happening).

Also, I'm not sure that Winamp can play *.wmv files, which seem to be the flavor of choice for most short clips.

One, sorry to have offended you Mj, but I had some questions and this was the only site that google found that really had anything close to what I was experiencing.

Two, thank you all for the input. I will continue to look into it and try some of the suggestions. I just want a media player that won't tell me I can't watch video files on my PC because it needs some lame-ass verification. I also don't want it hijacking ANY of my media like iTunes does. It needs to SERVE ME!!! Smile

I will post back once I have tried these out. If anyone has any other ideas, please post them. Thanks again.

Just an FYI to everyone that thinks ATI released new drivers aka 4.12....those are old. They are now at 5.1. Read the news on the front page and find out.
