So, here is my guide to hook up the Playstation LCD screen without using the bulky AV board.
Step 1:Take the damn thing apart. I didnt take any pictures of this because it is pretty easy. I used a PCI slot cover to pry the case off because that is what I had handy.
Step 2: Disconnect all of the cables from the screen.
Step 3: Cut off all of the cables except 1-4 from the connector from the right side of the screen.
Sorry that it is blurry, I am to lazy to take a new picture...
Step 4: Cut the end off of your Av cable that looks like a head phone connector.
Step 5: There will be 2 sets of wires there. Strip both of them to the bare wire. You are going to want to solder them to the 4 wires that you have left on your connector from the screen. The cables that have a red and white shielding around them are signal, and the ones that are bare are the ground. You will want to solder to this pinout:
1. Signal
2. Ground
3. Signal
4. Ground
Step 6: Tape them up so they don't short anything out.
Step 7: After they are insulated, tape them all together to clean it up and make it look pretty.
Step 8: You can do a few different things at this point. You can use the power connector that it comes with, or you can cut it off and just solder it straight to the ac adapter. It all depends on how you are going to set this up. I prefer to desolder one the connectors that it came with, solder one end to the end that goes into the screen, and the other to a car adapter so I can power it from my computer. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT JUST HOOK IT UP TO YOUR 12V LINE FROM YOUR POWER SUPPLY. IT WILL KILL IT!!
This is what you will need to be cutting off .
Step 9: After that, your screen should look like this:
Step 10: You will need 1 more connector. This is to compine the V sync and H sync signals.
That is just about it. You can now hook it into your RCA connection, or Svideo (with a Svideo to RCA adapter). Windows should recognize it and you should be good to go!
Here are a few pictures of it in action:
Installed on the front of my case:
If anyone has any questions on how to do it, or wants some help, let me know!

I'm thinking about just duct taping mine as is to the inside window of my case and using the existing AC adaptor. Elapsed time for my mod: 2 minutes, depending if I set my beer down and use both hands.

i was thinking about doing the one that uses a few of the bigger bays, but im sure thats more work and costs a bit more to do, not to mention more time consuming, but would be pritty cool... i would also like to do one of those mods where theres the side window thats the lcd monitor on ur pc so its kinda like all in one... but yet again... more difficult and money consuming...
nice right up tho... saw that case at roc and i couldnt believe it... it looks perfect...
nice job...

Heh, that's an awesome mod no matter how you look at it, even if it is a little old. I'd probably have done something like that a while ago if I had the time or the money, but I doubt I could have gotten it to turn out as nice as that. Good job! _________________

I will be using this guide later today I think. I really wanted to give the VGA method a chance, but alas it didn't work. Not even after I brought in extra help! Thanks Brian. I'm sure I'll mess with it again, but now I'm curious as to whether this darn thing will work at all. _________________

I finally got back to rewiring and here is the result:
Yay! Now I need to figure out how to get something besides my desktop to show up. I've never run dual monitors, but I don't think my card is capable of it. If I run the little one as a primary I can play videos and the like, but with it as a secondary the desktop image is all that shows up. _________________
Hmmm... You should be able to move applications and open windows onto it. You might want to try Ultramon. It is a cool program that will let you install a different wallpaper on each monitor and give you some other options...
Woo-hoo! Just funished this mod. It = so teh awesome!!1! I put it in a Lian Li case (similar model to MaxPowers'). I'm running a program called Samurise (http://www.samurize.com) so it shows hardware stats. All I have left to do is get a copy of one of those programs that lets you put different wall papers on different moniters and I'll be set.
A giant shout out to MaxPower for his A.) writing this thread B.) putting up with my many many questions C.) general sexy-ness
So Dockett, are you going to send me your Samurize config then? I would really like to check it out. As for putting different wallpapers on different monitors, I use UltraMon. It will even put another taskbar on your extra monitors so whatever application you have open on it, the taskbar will show it, which is really nice with normal dual monitor setups.

I very much want to do that... problem is, I don't have any of the parts and don't know where to get the screen. _________________ TC Event Administrator
